King Herod & the Magi: “Seeking the Real King”

The story of King Herod and the Magi presents a striking contrast between worldly power and humble wisdom. Herod, the powerful king, sought to protect his throne and saw Jesus as a threat. The Magi, however, traveled great distances following a star, seeking the true King with reverence and faith.

Their journey reminds us that true wisdom comes from seeking Christ, not earthly power. Matthew 2:11 recounts their worship: “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

At Parkview Christian Church in Meridian, we reflect on how God calls us to seek Him above all else, offering our hearts, talents, and resources in worship. This Christmas, let’s follow the example of the Magi, pursuing the real King with devotion and awe.
